Ian Geary

Biography

Ian Geary is an MA student in the History department studying religious and urban culture in late medieval and early Renaissance Italy. His research focus is centered around the Italian and German communal movement during that time. Ian is the 2023-24 Graduate Teaching Assistant for the Marco Institute's Medieval Civilization survey class, a position normally awarded to PhD students. He was also awarded the Riggsby Scholarship in Fall 2023 from the Marco Institute.
 
Ian has also published several public-facing articles on medieval and Renaissance history on websites such as Living Medieval and My Geekology. Most recently, he has published "Cola di Rienzo and the Dream of Ancient Rome" with Living Medieval as one of their featured articles.
