Biography
Ryan is originally from Thomasville, NC, and earned his BA in History and Medieval & Renaissance Studies and his MA in European History at East Carolina University. After three years working for ECU's Italy Intensives study abroad program based in Certaldo, Tuscany, he earned his PhD in Medieval History at the University of Manchester in Manchester, UK, in 2019, where his doctoral thesis was entitled "'In a Father's Place': Anglo-Saxon Kingship and Masculinity in the Long Tenth Century." He joined the Marco Institute in July 2022.
