The Marco Institute offers an in-house Latin examination modeled on those offered at the Universities of Notre Dame and Toronto. The exam is three hours long and requires the translation of two passages, one prose and one poetry. Those taking the test will be allowed to use printed Latin dictionaries, including Lewis & Short and Niermeyer; however, digital dictionaries are not allowed.
The Marco Latin Exam will be offered once per semester. If you would like to sign up, please contact the program office at marco@utk.edu.
Graduate students who pass the exam will be eligible to apply to teach in Marco’s Summer Latin Program.
